This event was co-sponsored by the OC Diversity Council, FutureSense and ALPFA OC and hosted by FutureSense in Newport Beach. Sheila Repeta’s analogy was akin to Maslow’s hierarchy where she suggested that Cultural Awareness, Education and Inclusivity lead to Cultural Adaptivity.
Veronica Coffie, Managing Director at KPMG, provided insight into how its corporate mantra of inclusion starts by integrating young employees at D&I conferences and continues into leadership.
Dr. Shawn Andrews identified organizational strategies to reduce bias, and pointed to trends which indicate that by 2020 we will have 5 generations working together, immigration patterns from developing nations highlight the need for safe spaces where we can disagree. Unconscious Bias is the topic of a future OCDC event.
